Longevity has become one of the major challenges of 21st-century medicine. We are living longer than ever before, yet the real question today is not simply how long we live, but how well we live those years — with health, energy and vitality.

With this perspective, dermatologist and researcher Dr Gabriel Serrano, founder of the Sesderma and Mediderma group, is entering a new stage of his professional career focused on understanding and optimising the biological processes of ageing. After more than five decades dedicated to the study of the skin, he is now directing his research towards areas such as cellular communication, metabolic energy and prevention, key pillars of what is increasingly known as longevity medicine.

“For many years medicine focused on treating disease or correcting the visible signs of ageing. Today we know that ageing is a complex biological process affecting the entire body, and that it can be approached through prevention, cellular regeneration and the optimisation of the body’s energy systems,” explains Dr Serrano.

A new way of understanding ageing

The approach promoted by Dr Serrano proposes a broader vision of ageing in which beauty, health and wellbeing are understood as deeply interconnected processes.

Rather than focusing exclusively on traditional anti-ageing strategies, this model addresses factors such as mitochondrial function, cellular communication, inflammatory regulation, brain health and hormonal balance, all of which are increasingly recognised as key components of healthy ageing.

The aim is to help the body maintain its biological balance over time and support a more active, fulfilling and healthy life.
“When we talk about longevity, we are not simply referring to living longer, but to living with vitality, mental clarity, energy and quality of life,” the specialist explains.

Pioneering longevity and regenerative medicine centres

This vision will take shape through Reverse Age & Longevity Center, a new concept of specialised longevity medicine centres led by Dr Gabriel Serrano. The project will begin its development in 2026 with an international outlook and is expected to expand progressively to cities including Valencia, Madrid, Dubai, Doha, Bogotá, Shanghai and Bayahibe.

The centre will bring together a multidisciplinary team of specialists in preventive medicine, functional nutrition, neurology, physical optimisation and advanced dermatology, with the aim of designing personalised programmes that combine medical diagnosis, prevention, treatment and guidance on healthy lifestyle habits.

Advanced technology for health optimisation

The new centre will incorporate technologies designed to stimulate the body’s natural regenerative processes and enhance both physical and mental wellbeing.

These include:

  • Exosome-based protocols, cellular structures that act as biological messengers involved in tissue regeneration and repair processes.
  • Advanced skin biostimulation technologies, capable of activating the natural production of collagen and hyaluronic acid to improve skin quality.
  • Non-invasive brain stimulation, aimed at supporting mental wellbeing, concentration and sleep quality.
  • Photobiomodulation, a technology based on therapeutic light that can stimulate cellular processes and support mitochondrial activity.
  • Advanced pelvic floor strengthening systems, designed to improve intimate health and overall quality of life.

These technologies will be combined with lifestyle assessments, health biomarkers and personalised programmes integrating nutrition, stress management, physical optimisation and healthy habits.
